Boys’ category favourite Dalton Harris is already a superstar in his home country of Jamaica, and now the contestant is taking the X Factor in the UK by storm.
Paired with singer and mentor Louis Tomlinson, Dalton has already become one of the firm favourites on the ITV competition, particularly since his show-stopping performance in week one of the live shows.
Last week saw Olatunji Yearwood and Armstrong Martins, unfortunately, leave the show, as viewers voted them bottom in the race for the recording contract.
Ever since the contestants have found their mentors on the show, there has been much speculation over exactly who is the most present and involved.
Last week singer and judge Robbie Williams even called out his fellow judge Simon Cowell for only being available for the Girls’ category by “phone”.
The 59-year-old music mogul had been away in America most of the week by his own admission, but now Dalton has revealed he thinks Louis has been the best judge on the show.
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other media, Dalton said: “I think so yes, he’s been… Louis’ always been very involved man.
“We got to the Judges’ Houses and we were able to be in the studio all the time.
“He’s always been there so I could be biased, but Louis’ more involved. He’s there sitting for hours and hours and hours and we went to bed really late last night.”
“He’s all hands on deck and he’s part of the team,” the act continued. “He doesn’t go out of the room when we cut he’s always there in the backyard, or in our rooms.
“When we’re talking or eating, having conversations. He’ll ask, ‘How was the day?’ We’ll ask, ‘What do I achieve? How are we doing, how is he doing?’ He’s just a real person who just happened to be in music.”
Asked whether he was surprised though, Dalton insisted he didn’t have “expectations” about his time on the competition.
“I don’t think I’m surprised,” he said. “Because I’m the kind of guy – I really don’t ever have expectations of anyone if I don’t know them.
“I wasn’t surprised and I wasn’t not surprised, I met him and this is who he is.
“I appreciate that about him but I don’t really formulate opinions about anyone if I haven’t really spoken to them.”
“But it’s refreshing to know someone as successful as he is can be humble enough to allow time for the work and put the work in and is so reachable,” the star added.
But it’s not just Louis who has provided support, as Dalton shared: “We were in the makeup room one day and Robbie [Williams] came up to me and he was like, ‘Are you ok?’ And he gave me some personal advice, and I was like, ‘Thank you.’
“The first time I auditioned he came backstage and told me I have a lot of potential, I feel like that’s awesome as well, and Ayda’s always been a comfort as well.
“So I think it’s really good but Louis for me – he’s the guy because he’s here with us, wherever we are and he always is.”
X Factor continues tonight at 8.35pm on ITV.
