Tonight’s edition of The Chase saw former EastEnders actor Todd Carty, athlete Jo Pavey, Apprentice runner-up and Loose Women panellist Saira Khan, and comedian Dominic Holland taking part to raise money for their respective charities.
Getting off to a promising start, Todd beat The Beast, also known as chaser Mark on the ITV show, to get back home to the panel, but in a disappointing turn of events Jo lost at the last hurdle and was sent home.
But the real drama came when Saira took her turn at the podium, where she became incredibly stressed over her last question.
The chaser had already caught up to her, and Saira realised everything relied on her being able to answer correctly.
The question was: “Which bird is the biggest? A blackbird, B robin, or C starling,” which led Saira to press C on impulse.
Having already gotten into her “think pose”, which saw the celebrity hunched over and leaning forward across the table, both host Bradley Walsh and Mark were struggling not to fall apart in hysterics.
“It looks like you’re gonna get hit by a quarterback,” Bradley declared through snorts.
But things unravelled even further, as Saira immediately realised her rash answer was incorrect, but Bradley was unwilling to confirm the truth.
“Was it a blackbird, because starling… I know…” she suddenly said in defeat.
“I can’t tell you that,” Bradley insisted, as Saira joked she could already tell from the “look on his face”.
Laughing, the comedian noted: “I don’t know the difference, actually,” as a worked up Saira started to lose her patience.
“Come on I need a wee now,” she said theatrically, before saying if she had got the answer right she was going to give the popular host a “huge hug”.
“Not if you’re gonna wet yourself you won’t,” Bradley replied.
After teasing his contestant even further by claiming they would find out “after the break”, Saira finally discovered the correct answer was actually blackbird.
“Oh no,” she lamented, “can I have another go?”
As the hilarious segment came to an end, viewers were posting their feelings on Twitter.
“Saira Khan is both funny and annoying at the same time #thechase,” one person posted.
While another shared: “Saira on The Chase is giving me life right now. I really hope an aesthetician never knocks me out and I can’t actually deal with her picking Starling. Poor @MarkLabbett looks like he’s about to explode #TheChase.”
The Chase continues weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
