Tim told Simon Rimmer he was shocked to learn they had performed to the theme tune of the BBC sci-fi series before joking about they will dance to next.
Simon commented: “Well highlight for me was undoubtedly Stacey Dooley, who I think is going to win.
“I’m team Stacey. I would really like her to win.”
Speaking to guests Tameka Epsom and Melvin Odoom, who have also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, Tim said: “I haven’t seen this yet.
“But Simon has told me they danced to the theme of Doctor Who.”
Simon added: “It’s a really long theme tune.”
“You’ve got to see it,” Tameka commented. “It was like, ‘Wow.’”
After watching a clip of Stacey and professional dance partner Kevin Clifton’s routine, Tim laughed: “I love those new Dr Dre beats, they’re really great.”
He then joked: “What are they dancing to next week?
“The theme tune to the 6 o’clock news?”
Simon quickly turned to his co-host to scold him for teasing details of next week’s show.
“Don’t do a spoiler!” he warned. “People don’t know.”
Tim laughed at Simon’s reaction along with the rest of the guests on today’s show.
Last night, Stacey and Kevin received their highest score of the series with 35 points.
Ahead of their performance, Stacey was the favourite to be crowned this year’s winner.
Her odds of lifting the Glitterball trophy have been slashed to 7/4 by Coral bookmakers.
Spokesperson Harry Aitkenhead commented: “Over 70% of the bets we’ve taken this week on have been on Stacey to win, which is one of the highest percentages we have seen this early in a Strictly competition.
“It’s one way traffic and punters are backing her to win without any doubts in their minds.”
Strictly come Dancing airs tonight on BBC One at 7.50pm.
