Neil was first introduced to the 28-year-old Russian dancer back in 2008 during a trip to Blackpool.
Despite Katya initially being unsure about going on a date with her now-spouse, the couple later struck up a romance and found love.
Now, the star has opened up about plans to start a family with the Strictly Come Dancing champion, who won last year’s series alongside dance partner Joe McFadden.
When quizzed about the idea of starting a family, Neil admitted that their careers meant they weren’t thinking about having children yet.
He said: “Of course we’d love to start a family, but we’ve already talked and it’s not the right time at the moment.
“We’re quite busy,” he explained, before adding: “Maybe in a couple of years.
“At the moment we’re enjoying the time on Strictly and all the little projects that come around it.”
Chatting about the couple, who have yet to announce whether they will star in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing, Neil explained that they hoped to have a large family in the future.
He stated: “We’re in a good place at the moment so [aren’t planning on starting a family yet], but in the future yeah, we’ll have children I’m sure. Loads of them.”
Opening up about the duo, who went public with their relationship after the Strictly Come Dancing live tour back in February, the star admitted that he hadn’t seen it coming as he hadn’t worked with them much during the series.
“I think just towards the end [of the tour] they started getting together,” he told Express.co.uk. “So of course we all kind of understood then.”
The choreographer added: “I never pick up on these things that quickly.”
