While she was quick to join in with all of the usual Loose Women banter and hijinks, she was first asked about her involvement in the next series of the prestigious dance competition.
As soon as the show started Ruth Langsford asked whether Shirley will be returning to the show.
She replied: “I’ve been verbally asked but as of yet I haven’t had a contract.
“But of course I would be highly delighted to go back on that most fabulous show. I had the time of my life.”
The live audience applauded the announcement, however Janet Street-Porter inquired about the dancer’s wage.
She asked Shirley if she will be receiving the same salary that her predecessor Len Goodman did when he judged on the show.
Shirley explained: “I do believe if a woman is doing the same job as a man then everybody should be on equal pay.
“But I do also understand that my first time on Strictly was like a trial so to speak.
“You’ve got to see that you can do the job, so I felt that everybody was really happy and I’m sure that they will be more than fair.”
When Janet pressed her on the matter she continued: “I have absolutely no idea yet but I do believe they will be very fair.”
Later on in the show Shirley was also asked about her “spat” with dance professional Brendan Cole.
She insisted: “I never had a spat with Brendan Cole I want to make that clear. I never had a spat with Brendan Cole. I didn’t.
“I just gave my critique and people decide which way they’re going to take it. I did everything from a good place and I just wanted Charlotte to improve her performance.”
She also added: “I think whatever he puts his mind to and wherever he goes he will do a divine job.
“I’ve known him all his life, he’s a hard worker, he has a beautiful family and I have faith in everything he does he will do a good job.”
Shirley’s announcement follows reports that Good Morning Britain star Lucy Verasamy will be joining the cast of 2018’s line-up.
Bookmakers placed Lucy at 3/1 to join the show, and 10/1 to win the competition entirely.
She is set to join co-star Piers Morgan, who is also rumoured to be joining the show.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One later this year.
