It came as the Strictly Come Dancing presenter interviewed AJ Pritchard and Lauren Steadman after they received their scores.
The pair had earned themselves 34 points for their Viennese Waltz and were completely ecstatic.
They even received two 9s on the BBC contest, which is what AJ had joked to Lauren he wanted for a birthday present.
“I’m so happy right now,” AJ declared.
But as Claudia tried to move on to her next piece to camera to encourage viewers to vote for the duo if they liked the routine, a strange high-pitched noise could be heard.
AJ looked completely baffled by the sound and its origins as his eyes roved around the room.
Equally confused, Claudia joked: “That isn’t me, or was that a dolphin?”
AJ then quipped: “My heart stopped, that’s what it was!”
Meanwhile, those watching at home thought Claudia’s quick-witted comment was hilarious and took to Twitter.
“Do you know, @ClaudiaWinkle is amazing at this. #dolphin #strictly,” one wrote.
While another shared: “Feel like claudia isn’t appreciated enough bc that “was that a dolphin” had me dead #Strictly.”
“She makes me laugh so hard during Strictly…dolphin made me choke,” a third stated.
A fourth exclaimed: “#Dolphin you’re quick 😀 love it! #Strictly .@ClaudiaWinkle.”
That wasn’t the only mishap of the night as poor Graeme Swann ended up having an issue with his mic.
As he walked over to the judges after performing with Oti Mabuse, Tess Daly noticed him struggling.
“Are you sorted?” asked Tess before moving on.
But Darcey Bussell couldn’t help but bring it up again.
She asked: “Have you lost something down there?”
Graeme laughed before explaining once more: “Yeah at the start my lead just flew out!”
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow on BBC One.
