Strictly Come Dancing contestant Lauren Steadman had just performed, prompting host Tess Daly to ask Bruno for his comments.
Bruno enthused: “I’m digging the 80s look. It reminds me of something… of me. I had one exactly the same.
“But really, you have it all at your disposal. Don’t be afraid to sell, sell, sell. Sell the dancing, sell the character.
“And go for it. Don’t care about what anyone says, what we say or what we think. Believe in yourself because I feel there’s still a bit of a barrier. When you go for your…”
Bruno then grabbed Shirley’s shoulders, leaving her visibly stunned.
The judge quickly paused to apologise, saying: “Oh, sorry love!”
During his comments to Charles Venn, Bruno grabbed Shirley’s hands to demonstrate a routine.

Tess Daly screamed: “Put her down!” leaving the audience chuckling.
After Bruno released his clutch on Shirley, she grabbed Darcey Bussell’s hand and moved away from her fellow judge.
Craig jibed: “I am so glad I am not sitting next to Bruno Tonioli,” before Bruno mouthed “bitter” towards the cameras.
After Faye Tozer had finished her Quickstep to You’re the One That I Want from Grease, Tess asked Bruno: “Did they give you chills and are they multiplying?”
Leaping out if his seat, Bruno said: “They did, and I’m losing control! Because the power, you’re supplying…”
By this point, Bruno had left the judging podium and grabbed Faye to congratulate her.
