In first-look images from the set of Poldark season five, Ross (played by Aidan Turner) can be seen talking to a mystery woman.
He looks deep in conversation with the unknown lady as they make their way towards a waiting ship.
Ross can be seen dressed in a long navy cloak and brown waistcoat.
His look is completed with his signature navy hat.
Meanwhile, his mystery companion can be seen wrapped in a brown velvet cloak which has a hood to shield her identity.
She can also be seen wearing brown leather gloves and carrying a patterned bag.
Ross and the mystery woman are followed by Prudie Paynter (Beatie Edney), who works for the Poldark family.
However, Ross’ wife Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) cannot be seen.
While fans may worry Ross has fallen for another woman, images taken later show Demelza isn’t too far from her husband.
She can be seen boarding the ship in a forest green dress and matching coat.
Her look was completed with a green hat with her red locks pinned up.
Fans of the BBC series will just have to wait until the show returns to television screens to find out who the mystery woman is and what her link to the Poldark’s is.
Following the news Poldark will return to the BBC for the final time, writer Debbie Horsfield shed light on what viewers can expect.
She said: “In The Stranger from the Sea Winston Graham made many references to developments that happened in the ‘gap’ years.
“Much can also be inferred. There are, of course, also historical events and people of the time, both in Cornwall and in London.
“Series five will draw on all of these to follow the lives of the Poldarks, George Warleggan, the Enyses, and the Carnes in this intervening period.”
It was revealed Lily Dodsworth Evans, Kerri McLean, Sofia Oxenham, Vincent Regan, Peter Sullivan and Freddie Wise all joining the cast.
However, the details of their characters are yet to be confirmed.
Poldark season 5 returns to BBC One in 2019.
