Pamela Mollie Fox and John Tipton Young Jr. are to be married June 24 at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Runako Taylor, a friend of the couple who was ordained a Universal Life minister for the occasion, is to officiate.
Ms. Fox, 49, teaches art at the Shefa School in Manhattan, a Jewish community school for children with language-based learning disabilities. She graduated from the University of Michigan and received a master’s degree in childhood and special education from Bank Street College of Education in Manhattan.
She is the daughter of the late Elaine M. Gendler of Farmington Hills, Mich.
Mr. Young, 45, is a Latinist and chair of the classics department at the Browning School, a preparatory school in Manhattan, and an adjunct lecturer on Latin and classical mythology at Hunter College, from which he received a master’s degree in adolescent education and Latin. He is also vice president of the board of the North American Institute for Living Latin Studies in Sebastopol, Calif. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.
He is the son of Valerie J. Boisvert of Georgetown, Tex., and Mr. Young Sr. of Canyon Lake, Tex. The groom is the stepson of Pierre Boisvert.
The couple met in 2012 at a wedding reception in Manhattan when they were both seated at what they described as the “oddballs” table. Later that evening, they shared a cab to their respective homes in the neighborhood of Prospect Park and, though they never again saw that bride or groom, they have seen each other almost every day since.
Their previous marriages both ended in divorce.
