When will the unaired Lucifer episodes air?
FOX recently confirmed that it was giving supernatural police procedural Lucifer the chop.
Following the cancellation, it was revealed that there were two episodes that had been filmed but not broadcast.
The plan had been to save them for the season four before Lucifer was cancelled.
Now it’s been announced that FOX will be airing the last two episodes in the US on Monday, May 28 back-to-back.
According to TVLine, the first episode is called Boo Normal and will see Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) and co. investigating the killing of a children’s psychiatrist.
Meanwhile, Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia) will be dealing with a “big childhood secret that she’s been hiding”.
Boo Normal will see House actress Charlyne Yi guest starring in the episode as Ray-Ray/Azreal, Ella’s childhood friend with questions over whether she or not she’s a ghost.
The final episode in the Lucifer double bill is called Once Upon A Time and will put a spin on the show.
Set in an alternate universe after Lucifer’s mother Goddess (Tricia Helfer) creates a parallel world, the episode sees the devil contemplating the idea of what would have happened to him if he’d never met homicide detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German).
Although Lucifer has never met Chloe in this world, he’s been given the freedom of choice and will see how he acts with his new freewill.
On top of that the episode is narrated by author Neil Gaiman, who was one of the co-creators of Lucifer in the Sandman DC Comics.
Co-creator Joe Henderson posted on Twitter recently: “Just did the final sound mix for Lucifer 326, “Once Upon a Time”, which will air next Monday. Hearing @neilhimself narrate the episode is… well, divine. #SaveLucifer #PickUpLucifer.”
It’s expected that Lucifer will be dropping on Amazon Prime the day after it airs on FOX as it has done with all other episodes from season three.
The double bill special comes after Lucifer showrunner Ildy Modrovich previously said: “We did 2 stand alone episodes after the finale. The plan was to shuffle them in with the rest of the Season 4 episodes.
“So now… don’t know where they’ll air and when… but you’ll be able to see them at SOME point I’m sure!! #SaveLucifer #PickUpLucifer.”
While there’s been no news on whether the drama has been picked up by another broadcaster or streaming platform, the Save Lucifer campaign is still going strong.
The double bill special could be the last big push for another network or streaming service to save the show.
Lucifer season 1-3 are available to watch on Amazon Prime
