French Fare From a Comfort Food Veteran in the West Village

EAST HAMPTON: Il Mulino, the popular Italian restaurant group, now has a gracious pondside Hamptons branch, 108 Wainscott Stone Road, Shuko Beach, the pop-up from the Japanese restaurant Shuko in Greenwich Village, is returning this season from July 6 to Aug. 31, Highway Restaurant & Bar, 290 Montauk Highway, EMP Summer House, the Eleven Madison Park outpost, is back, 341 Pantigo Road, The Quiet Clam 2.0 is the rebirth, with some of the same menu items, of the casual, popular seafood restaurant that occupied this location and closed about 20 years ago, 100 Montauk Highway.

GREENPORT: Claudio’s, under new management, has opened for the season; Claudio’s Clam Bar and Crabby Jerry’s are following suit, 111 Main Street,

MONTAUK: All Day at Breakers is the latest from Leyla Marchetto, an owner of the popular Navy Beach, 769 Old Montauk Highway, George’s Lighthouse Cafe is a new food concession stand adjacent to the lighthouse at Montauk State Park, 2000 Montauk Highway, Hooked is new for seafood takeout, 34 South Etna Avenue, Picnic in the Park General Store offers takeaway and cafe fare near the beach, Hither Hills State Park, 164 Old Montauk Highway.

SHELTER ISLAND: Caci Shelter Island, a branch of Caci North Fork in Southold, offers northern and central Italian fare, Shelter Island House, 11 Stearns Point Road,

SOUTHAMPTON: Maison Vivienne, a new country inn and French restaurant is offering a taste of Provence, 136 Main Street. Sushi by Bou, the quick-serve omakase, pops up in the patio of Jue Lan Club restaurant until September, 268A Elm Street,

WATER MILL: Culaccino, serving Italian fare, is the latest in the former Mirko’s location, 670 Montauk Highway,

Looking Ahead

THE GATEWAY Crafted Hospitality, the chef Tom Colicchio’s restaurant management company, will be creating a 40,000-square-foot food hall just outside Kansas City in Mission, Kan. It is being developed with GFI Development and Cameron Group to combine food from a collection of chefs and restaurateurs in about half the space, and entertainment and recreation in the rest. The project is expected to open in about two years.
