WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Fear The Walking Dead season 4
Season four of Fear The Walking Dead has really been testing fans after recovering heroin addict Nick Clark (played by Frank Dillane) was killed off in episode three.
On top of that, AMC aired the midseason finale this week called No One’s Gone in which lead character Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) got the chop.
Madison succumbed to her fate after the Vultures used a pack of Walkers to try to take over the Diamond.
Her family and friends could only watch on helplessly as she was attacked by the ravenous horde of undead and perished.
Is Madison really dead in Fear The Walking Dead?
The short answer is yes but there’s nothing to say she couldn’t return in any flashbacks.
Taking to Instagram, actress Kim Dickens told her 102,000 followers: “It’s been an honor [sic] to play such a strong, badass, empowered, fierce leader.
“I’ll miss playing Madison Clark but she will always be with me (because it’s me). Thank y’all for watching.”
Her post pretty confirms her exit from The Walking Dead spin-off and the star has since spoken about her departure.
In a candid interview with TV Guide, Dickens explained: “It’s ultimately up to the producers and the writers. It was a shock and a huge disappointment to me. But it was already laid out.”
She went on to say: “I felt like Madison had more stories to tell and more roads to travel.
“She could have gone in crazy directions. She could have become a villain. I was ready to do anything to go further and deeper with her.”
However, Dickens said Madison’s death was a “beautiful sacrificial moment” but she was “surprised” at the way the character died.
Dickens admitted that she’d voiced her disappointment at her exit from the show, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “They saw what I disagreed with about it. But it was always a respectful conversation.”
She added: “There were a few conversations, and they were always respectful, but they were heartfelt.”
When asked whether she would consider returning to the role of Madison, Dickens explained: “Were it to come around and find itself in another show or another place and time? Of course I would entertain it.
“I love the character. I love the franchise. I love the writing and the storytelling of it.”
When will Fear The Walking Dead season 4 return?
AMC has confirmed that Fear The Walking Dead will be returning from its hiatus on August 12.
There are still a total of eight episodes left in the current run of the drama.
A promo for episode nine was released after the midseason finale and teased that there was an impending danger on the horizon.
In the short clip, it looked like the Walkers were gaining the upper hand as they seemed to grow in numbers.
