This week’s Emmerdale was full of drama as Kim (played by Claire King) returned to the Dales and made enemies with several residents.
One person unhappy with her comeback was Charity (Emma Atkins) following her arrest for allegedly pushing her over the balcony.
However, it seems the two strong women could come head to head in an epic storyline twist when Charity learns of her mother’s real identity.
Earlier last month, Charity visited her father, Obadiah Dingle and found out how her mother, Kathy had left her – and the scenes left fans convinced Kathy was still alive.
Viewers have been suggesting the similarities between Kim and Charity, and even floated the idea that Kim was her biological mother.
Taking to Twitter to discuss their theory, one said: “I’m even more convinced that Charity’s presumed dead mum will turn out to be Kim Tate.
“[She] ran away from Obadiah, faked a suicide, changed her name and got a job as a receptionist with Frank Tate.”
Another fan replied to the comment and wrote: “Stranger things have happened.”
Whilst a third added: “There has to be a reason, just before Kim returned, that Charity was told her mum committed suicide but her body was never found.
“It might not be Kim, but I guarantee we’ll have Charity’s mum return. In terms of Kim, it fits her timeline.”
One viewer commented: “I thought of it when Kim was returning, but as a joke, however, the scenes with Charity and Kim, they’re so alike, look alike and what better way to create drama than have them mother and daughter?”
“Good theory, it seems possible,” another tweeted.
Could Kim actually be Charity’s mother?
Either way, viewers will have to wait until early next year to find out how the story continues, as tonight’s episode saw Kim return to prison.
Nevertheless, the soap have confirmed a definite return for Kim.
Executive Producer, Jane Hudson also added: “Although Kim’s initial return was fleeting, she caused such mischief and chaos that we simply couldn’t resist bring her back.
“Kim Tate is just getting warmed up for an explosive 2019 which will see her hell-bent on getting exactly what, and who, she wants.”
And actress Claire added: “You knew she wasn’t going to go away quietly, so I’m pleased to announce Kim will be back.
“It’s been great fun keeping it under wraps but now she can really get down to business!”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV.
