Cain (played by Jeff Hordley) and Ross Barton’s (Michael Parr) relationship has been more than a little strained after the acid attack survivor discovered the truth about who was behind it.
Ross felt utterly betrayed by his former flame Debbie (Charley Webb) when he realised she had paid drug dealer Simon McManus (Liam Ainsworth) to cause the act that left him disfigured for life.
The mechanic claimed he would keep Debbie’s secret so her children Sarah and Jack wouldn’t suffer, but things have changed on Emmerdale.
Finally making his intentions clear, Ross gives worried father Cain an ultimatum in tonight’s episode of the ITV soap.
Ross tells the family man if he doesn’t hand over the garage he will go to the police about what Debbie did.
Struggling with what to do at first, Cain tells Debbie what’s happened.
She doesn’t react well, and is horrified at Ross’s behaviour while she faces a difficult road ahead with her eldest child’s heart condition.
Cain decides to make a compromise with Ross, hopeful it will be enough to send him on his way.
He tells his daughter his plans to offer Ross a joint partnership instead, determined to keep the garage as a family business.
The pair can later be seen shaking hands as a grinning Cain seems happy with the outcome.
But is Ross hiding his next move from the smug villager? Or will he leave the Dingles alone for good now?
Meanwhile, Cain is involved in a tricky situation with newcomer Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano).
Yesterday’s episode saw the hooded stranger break in to Cain and Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J. Robb) cottage at the farm, but it was not what it appeared.
After a tense round of questioning, Cain finally discovered Matty was Moira’s former daughter Hannah Barton, who underwent a sex change two years ago.
While Cain was stuck in the middle of the family drama, Moira intensely struggled to accept her new son.
Moira was insistent not only had Matty been selfish, but his lies were unforgivable.
What’s more, Moira was hurt her youngest child had failed to show up when her other daughter Holly died of a drug overdose.
Crying at his mother’s reaction, Matty said he couldn’t put even more drama on his mother.
Will Cain get involved in an attempt to smooth things over between the pair despite Moira’s insistence for Matty to leave?
Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
