The 59-year-old host, who took part in Strictly Come Dancing last year, gave her verdict on the line-up as she responded to questions from listeners wondering how she felt about it.
“My thoughts are the same as they often are every year,” she said, admitting: “There’s not that many people I know when they announce them.”
Debbie McGee explained she didn’t think many people knew some of the stars unless they were fans of shows they had appeared in.
“But that’s what the programme is about,” she added. “That then people surprise you and you learn about them as the series goes on.

“I think it’s a part of what makes the series interesting.”
The former Strictly finalist continued: “This year, there doesn’t seem to be someone who will be the comedy person but that’s where the surprise comes.”
She then named who she thought had been the comedy acts in the Strictly 2017 line-up.
“In my year, it was a choice of quite a few people. There were a few of them that were really very funny.
“Susan [Calman], Brian Conley… Ruth Langsford was very funny at times, or most of the time,” she giggled.
“I surprised people with what I could do, other people really improved,” Debbie recalled. “I just think that’s the same this year.
Debbie McGee: Strictly Come Dancing star made a confession about 2018 line-up
Debbie McGee: Strictly Come Dancing star admitted she didn’t know many of 2018 contestants
“When they announce the names the press are always going, ‘This is the worst line-up yet,’ but they say it every single year and the programme is always a huge success and I’m sure it will be again this year.”
Debbie made it all the way to the final with her professional partner Giovanni Pernice, 27, wowing not only the viewers but also the judges with her incredible technique.
Her impressive flexibility earned her the nickname Flexi McGee, but she was pipped to the post by actor Joe McFadden, 42, who lifted the glitterball trophy with his dance partner Katya Jones, 28.
On her radio show this morning, Debbie went on to reveal Giovanni had texted her to ask who she taught he should be paired up with from this year’s Strictly line-up.
“I sent Giovanni a message the other day and I put, ‘I’m not jealous yet,” she laughed. “And he asked me who I thought he should be partnered with.

“So I sent back, ‘Me,’” the presenter quipped.
Debbie recalled how Giovanni had replied with a string of messages each containing one letter of her name, recreating the famous moment in last year’s series which saw him reading out “D.E.B.B.I.E” from a board during a dance where she played an optician and he played a patient.
The Strictly Come Dancing line-up has come under fire from fans after all 15 celebrities were confirmed this week, with some fans saying YouTube star Joe Sugg, 26, isn’t a big enough star.
Former Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts, 36, has also been accused of having too much prior dance experience, having appeared as a judge on Dancing On Ice in the past.
Head judge Shirley Ballas, 57, has defended the line-up of contestants, saying on Loose Women: “First of all, I don’t think the BBC ever get it wrong. That’s just my feeling.”
She urged fans to give the “diverse” cast a chance, adding: “It has to be a mixture of people and, at the end of the day, people will watch it, they’ll judge for themselves.”
Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday September 8 on BBC One.
