Anita Ann DeCarlo and Marvin Fleischman are to be married June 24 aboard the Princess yacht at Captain’s Quarters Riverside Grille in Prospect, Ky. John Gage, an ordained Baptist minister, is to lead a ceremony involving Jewish traditions.
The bride, 66, retired as an information technology business analyst and project manager at Cablevision in Bethpage, N.Y. She graduated from Brooklyn College and received a Master of Library Science from Queens College. She is a daughter of the late Helen Deems and the late Joseph E. Deems.
The groom, 81, is a chemical engineer. He retired as a professor of chemical and environmental engineering at the University of Louisville. From 1961 to 1963, he was an officer in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, for which he served as a radiological health instructor in Washington and a researcher of wastewater management in Cincinnati. He graduated from the City College of New York and received a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He is a son of the late Miriam Fleischman and the late Julius Fleischman.
The bride, whose first marriage ended in divorce, is a widow. The groom’s previous marriage ended in divorce.
The couple met in 2016 in Louisville at a Meetup group for liberals over 50. Through conversation, they discovered that they had both grown up in Lower Manhattan neighborhoods, she in Stuyvesant Town, he in the Lower East Side. They were engaged seven months later.
