I remember Crown Royal whisky from my childhood. My father drank it and would give me the purple fabric sacks it came in, which I would use to store small toys, doll clothing and the like. A new edition of the Canadian whisky, the 13-year-old blenders’ mash, brought back memories. It is one of the limited-edition blends that are available annually in the company’s Noble Collection, introduced in 2016. The 90-proof spirit is ultrasmooth, with hints of dried fruit and honey. Crown Royal was first created in 1939 to honor a visit to Canada by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. It was packaged in the bags to make the presentation to the king and queen more regal, and they ended up keeping it.
